Days Like This - are excellent...

DJ Marky

Ah, Days Like This are simply amazing.
An incredible and diverse line-up entertained and in the case of the Big Ol' Bad Boy from Brazil, DJ Marky, stunned the attending masses. In Marky's case, it was a surprise departure from his particularly individual style of drum and bass, to throw a shock (but far from shocking) mix including 'Good Life', Jackson Five's 'ABC', into Kris Kross' 'Jump', through to House of Pain's 'Jump Around'. In response, the crowd went off. Like a bag of seafood left in the sun. Yes - it was that good.

Redman

Headline act Methodman and Redman packed out the main stage with their live hiphop act - OK, I'm not saying that these guys aren't talented artists, but it wasn't my cup of tea, so I headd back into the Forum stage to re-acquaint myself with Marky.

MC Conrad

Earlier in the evening, legends LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad kept the momentum rolling after Joker's grimy dubstep set. Sweat flying, Conrad's experience as one of the world's leading DnB MCs shone through as he danced and kept the crowd hyped, before handing over to Marky.

MC Wrec

Out in the fresh air, MC Wrec and the Nextmen saw the setting of the sun as they rolled out mash up after mashup, rewind after rewind. A personal favourite was Salt and Pepper's 'Push It' laid over Prodigy's 'Firestarter'. Mint. Which is a good thing. And speaking of good things, later on in the evening I was lucky enough to catch Kiwi act The Black Seeds. From Wellington, these guys sound even better live than they do on CD...

Barnaby Weir - The Black Seeds

While the festival kicked off in the early afternoon, I was only able to attend with MC Shureshock just after Roots Manuva had finished his set - so the first act that I caught was dubstepper Joker. What a way to kick of my Days Like This experience...
